Why CCTV Systems Are Essential for Dubai Properties
Security cameras protect your property and give evidence if incidents occur. Dubai's mix of expat residents, high property values, and frequent tenant turnover makes surveillance systems a practical investment for villas, apartments, and commercial spaces.
Modern CCTV systems offer remote viewing from anywhere in the world, motion detection alerts, and night vision. Installation costs range from AED 1,500 for basic setups to AED 15,000 or more for advanced multi-camera systems with AI features.
Types of CCTV Systems Available in Dubai
Analogue CCTV Systems
Traditional analogue cameras connect to a DVR (Digital Video Recorder) using coaxial cables. These systems cost less upfront, with basic packages starting at AED 1,200 for four cameras. Image quality reaches 1080p on newer models but can't match IP camera clarity.
Analogue systems work well for small properties where budget matters more than advanced features. Replacement parts remain widely available across Dubai electronics markets.
IP Camera Systems
IP cameras connect via network cables or WiFi and record to an NVR (Network Video Recorder) or cloud storage. They deliver sharper images (up to 4K resolution), easier remote access, and advanced features like facial recognition and licence plate reading.
Expect to pay AED 3,500 to AED 12,000 for a complete IP system with four to eight cameras. Monthly cloud storage fees add AED 50 to AED 200 depending on recording duration and camera count.
Wireless WiFi Cameras
WiFi cameras need only power cables, making installation faster and cheaper. Battery-powered models exist but need charging every 2-4 months in Dubai's heat, reducing their practicality.
WiFi cameras suit apartments and small villas but struggle with thick concrete walls common in Dubai buildings. Signal dropouts cause recording gaps. Price range: AED 300 to AED 1,200 per camera.
PTZ Cameras
Pan-Tilt-Zoom cameras rotate to cover wide areas and zoom in on specific zones. One PTZ camera can replace two or three fixed cameras in open spaces like villa gardens or building entrances.
PTZ cameras cost AED 1,500 to AED 5,000 each. They work best when paired with fixed cameras that give constant coverage of critical areas like doors and safes.
