Golf Place is a sub-community within Dubai Hills Estate, and the homes we are asked to fit with cameras fall into three types: apartments, townhouses and villas. The method is similar for each, but the layout decides where the cameras sit, how the cable is run and how much work is involved. A studio and a five-bedroom villa need very different systems, which is why we quote by property type and number of bedrooms rather than by camera count alone.

Most CCTV problems come from placement and cabling rather than from the cameras themselves. A camera mounted too high records the tops of heads instead of faces. One that points towards low sun washes out at the same hour every day. A view that was clear at handover can be blocked a year later by a growing tree or a new boundary fixture. Wi-Fi cameras at the far end of a larger home often drop out because the signal from the router is too weak. Exposed cable on an outside wall will crack in the heat if it is not rated for it. We check each of these during the site visit, before anything is drilled.

In an apartment, the useful coverage is usually the entrance door, the balcony door and the main living area. For townhouses the prices are AED 1950 for a 2BR, AED 2500 for a 3BR, AED 3000 for a 4BR and AED 3600 for a 5BR. For villas they are AED 2100 for a 2BR, AED 2700 for a 3BR, AED 3200 for a 4BR and AED 3900 for a 5BR. Materials are quoted separately, and the work carries a 90 day warranty.
