A fan is fixed to a ceiling point that can carry its weight, wired to a switched supply, balanced and tested. What changes is the ceiling construction, the number of fans, and who has to agree to the work before we arrive.

In an apartment the ceiling is normally a concrete slab, sometimes with a false ceiling below it. A fan has to be anchored into the structure, never into plasterboard alone. Many replacement jobs start with a light fitting hung from a lightweight box, and that box is not safe for a fan that pulls sideways as it turns. In villas and townhouses there is usually more floor area and more fans per property, which is why the price rises with the size of the home. For three bedrooms the figures are AED 450 for an apartment or townhouse and AED 500 for a villa. A 4BR is AED 550 for an apartment or townhouse and AED 600 for a villa.
