Jumeirah is mostly independent villas, many of them older houses on large plots, with some beachfront properties and newer Meraas developments mixed in. Buildings date from the 1990s to the 2020s, so a smart lock installation here is rarely the same job twice. The flat fee is AED 250, you supply the lock, and we fit and set it up in about 60 minutes.

Older villas are where most problems start. Doors from the 1990s and early 2000s were often cut for a mortice lock or a basic cylinder, and the bore, backset or door thickness may not match what a modern smart lock expects. Frames also move over the years. A door that has dropped slightly will make the bolt bind, and the motor then drains the batteries quickly or fails to throw the bolt fully. We check alignment before drilling anything. If the door needs a strike plate adjusted or a mounting adaptor, those parts are quoted separately from the AED 250 before we start.

Large plots bring their own issues. A villa may have a main entrance, a side door, a service door and a garden door, and the outer ones can sit a long way from the router. Weak wi-fi at the door causes slow app response and dropped connections that owners often blame on the lock. We test the signal at the door itself and tell you on the day if a repeater is needed. Houses close to the sea also expose metal finishes to humid, salty air, so we make sure the manual key backup turns freely before we leave.

Access is usually simple for villas, since we can park and work directly at the door. Please tell us at booking which doors you want done so we allow enough time. In a newer Meraas development, or any building with shared management, check with building management or the owners association whether changes to an external door need their approval. Where they do, it is quicker to settle that before the visit.

The AED 250 flat fee covers our labour for fitting the lock, aligning it and linking it to your phone. Materials are quoted separately, and nothing is added without your agreement. Our work carries a 90 day warranty.
